Any ardent nature traveler should voyage to the Amazon headwaters at least once in your lifetime…and our webinar with Expedition Leader Renzo Zeppilli will give you an enticing preview! Renzo, an expert Amazon naturalist, will lead this virtual voyage aboard a deluxe riverboat up the primary source tributaries of the mighty river into the world’s largest tropical rain forest. Our destination is the 5-million-acre Pacaya Samiria Reserve, the largest conservation area in Renzo’s native Peru and one of the most biodiverse places on Earth. Known as the “mirrored forest” for its seasonally flooded lagoons and creeks, it’s a haven for a stunning spectrum of wildlife. Look for pink and gray river dolphins, howler monkeys, elusive sloths, endangered scarlet macaws, among a host of prolific birdlife, and multitudes of frogs and fascinating insects including giant blue morpho butterflies. Excursions by skiff, kayak and on foot—with the best guide-to-guest ratio of any trip offered in this region—promises an intimate encounter with this rain forest realm.
