Mon May 11, 2020 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm EDT
Event Navigation
Although they are still considered endangered, India’s Bengal tiger population has increased by 33% in just the last six years, to a current population estimate of 3,000. There are still more tigers in captivity in the world than in the wild, and popular shows like Tiger King can give a very inaccurate view of these powerful predators. In this webinar, Expedition Leader Surya Ramachandran will discuss the behavior, biology and ecology of wild tigers in India’s Ranthambore National Park, a protected area that was once the private hunting grounds of the Rajasthani Maharajas. A growing tiger population also comes with the risk of increased conflict with humans, and we will also learn what that means for communities living within tiger habitat.
