Summer Adventures in Churchill
Tue April 3, 2018 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm EDT
Event Navigation
Join us on a summer adventure in the Canadian subarctic, when more than 3,000 friendly beluga whales congregate in the mouth of the Churchill River along Hudson Bay. With Expedition Leader Moira LePatourel, get up close via Zodiac and kayak…and learn about a chance to snorkel with the whales when you come to Churchill with us. The tundra and taiga forest are home to other wildlife, too, and we go in search of caribou, Arctic fox, Arctic hare and polar bears that rove the area, along with scores of migratory birds. The town of Churchill, inaccessible by road, is also a highlight: once a Hudson Bay Company fur trading post, it still exudes frontier spirit and is a hub for several different northern cultures.
