Tue June 19, 2018 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm EDT
Event Navigation
Sri Lanka is a small island nation off the southern tip of India, surrounded by turquoise seas. Till now, it’s been largely undiscovered by nature travelers. But we’re changing that, introducing a select cadre of explorers to its diverse natural habitats and the treasure trove of wildlife that inhabits them. Join Expedition Leader Toby Sinclair on a journey to this global biodiversity hotspot, which is also replete with historic sites, ancient ruins and a melange of cultures. There’s none better than Toby, a regional conservation leader and BBC Sri Lanka field producer, to reveal all the wonders of the “Pearl of the Indian Ocean.” Did you know, for example, that Sri Lanka has the world’s highest concentration of leopards in Yala National Park, along with sloth bear, jackal, Asiatic buffalo, sambar and more? Toby also takes us primate watching in Polonnaruwa, into virgin rain forests that shelter Asian elephant herds, and in search of blue whales on a cruise from Mirissa Harbor — the best place on Earth to see the world’s largest cetaceans.
