While much of the world views China as a powerful consumer of nature and natural resources, there is another side to the story. China’s success in saving the giant panda from the brink of extinction, with the help of WWF, is arguably the world’s greatest conservation story and could only be achieved through widespread appreciation of these charismatic animals. Will this love of the giant panda inspire the Chinese people to care for other aspects of nature as well, as their influence on the world continues to grow? We will take a deep dive into how China’s perception of nature is changing, largely engendered by its love of the giant panda.
