Rocky Mountain naturalist guide Aaron Bott shares the inspiring story of the grizzly bear’s revival in Yellowstone. Exterminated throughout most of the American West in the 19th and early 20th centuries, grizzlies had nearly vanished from their native range. By the mid-1900s, only a couple of small populations remained in Yellowstone and Glacier national parks. In 1975, however, grizzlies received protection under the Endangered Species Act and their fate began to reverse. Thanks to intensive conservation efforts since, grizzly bear populations have been expanding, and the ongoing grizzly recovery program is now considered one of the world’s great conservation stories. Aaron shares this riveting narrative, with insight into all that’s been accomplished and what is still at stake for grizzlies in the Lower 48.
